AIR TOOLS HAVE 4 X LONGER LIFETIME

Due to the increasing focus on energy, air tools are considered by some to be in danger of extinction.
But nothing is less true.
Pneumatic tools will always retain the advantage of power coupled with low weight.
In addition, manufacturers are working hard on the energy efficiency of the tools.
By adapting the motor in function of power, pneumatic tools are stronger than ever before.
A good example of this is our 1” wrench, huge torque, yet only 6 kg, no one does better.

AIR TOOLS VS. POWER TOOLS

The problem with compressed air tools (90%) can be reduced to a problem with pure compressed air.
In particular, wrenches and ratchet wrenches, and by extension all compressed air tools.
In the past, compressed air was the energy source of choice to power them.
But lately, air tools have been facing more and more competition from power tools.
The arrival of better batteries in particular gave them a boost.
As a result, they started to put their foot next to pneumatic tools for certain applications.
But when it comes to power, compressed air tools are still preferred.
The cost of compressed air tools is significantly cheaper if there is a compressed air network in the workshop, and where in workshops is there no compressor?
Add to that a four to eight times longer lifespan.
A third point is the weight.
Tools are indispensable in the workshop, so they are used all day long.
Pneumatic tools are lighter in hand, but the compressed air hose restricts freedom of movement (avoid the cheap PVC hoses, and go for vulcanized oil-resistant javac hoses).
When it comes to energy efficiency, compressed air always has to give way to electrical machines.
Compressed air is indeed the most expensive energy carrier, we cannot avoid it.
However, pneumatic tools can be used anywhere where compressed air is available, including in potentially explosive and humid working environments where electricity is not recommended.

In order to close the gap on power tools in terms of energy efficiency, it is important to opt for high-quality compressed air tools. Manufacturers of high-quality compressed air tools have invested heavily in new developments in recent years.
Which results in more power from less compressed air.

Another common thread in the development of compressed air tools has to do with ergonomics.
Javac attaches great importance to the design to minimize vibrations and noise and to increase ease of use.

What is already certain is that the distinction between electric and pneumatic tools is no longer so sharp and that it will be the application that dictates the choice.

COMPRESSED AIR SYSTEM

Air tools are only the last link in the system.
To drive it correctly, an entire compressed air network (ALU) precedes it, which also requires the necessary attention.
This is a one-time investment, without maintenance.
Compressed air tools are therefore less and do not simply disappear from the workshop, disappear.
The network starts with a compressor that will compress the air drawn in so that the air is available under high pressure (7 bar or higher). Depending on the application, this becomes a pistonscroll or screw compressor.
A short audit of all compressed air users will determine which power should be installed.
Compressed air connections to which a machine is connected can be equipped with an oil lubricator that ensures that all parts receive the correct lubrication.
Filters monitor the purity of the compressed air.

PROBLEMS WITH AIR TOOLS

If your air tool is not getting torque, the cause could be a leaking quick coupler or other causes.

PURE COMPRESSED AIR?

If condensation water, dirt or other impurities are visible, it is a good idea to install filters, if they are missing, or to check whether the filters are still working.

IS THE WORK PRESSURE CORRECT?

Usually this is around 6.3 bar.
This can fluctuate greatly due to losses in the compressed air network, especially if the capacity of the compressor is too low.
To be sure, it is best to place a pressure regulator at each tapping point, with which you can immediately read the compressed air pressure value.

IS THE UNIT SUFFICIENTLY LUBRICATED?

Compressed air lubricating oil is crucial for the correct use of compressed air.
It is a good idea to atomize compressed air lubricating oil within a hose distance of approximately 6 meters using a properly adjusted oil atomizer.
Use the correct compressed air lubricating oil, so that the hose is not affected .

IS THE DEVICE USED CORRECTLY?

It seems obvious that a nut driver serves to tighten bolts, but for some employees it can also sometimes serve as a hammer.
No matter how robust your compressed air tools look, they are still delicate machines.
By avoiding incorrect actions, you greatly reduce the risk of defects.
In addition, the dimensions of the device in function of the application must be taken into account.
If the wrench is suitable for ½” sockets, it should not be used to tighten 1” bolts.

IS THE HOSE DIAMETER USED ADAPTED TO THE COMPRESSED AIR CONSUMPTION OF THE APPLIANCE?

Pneumatic tools require a certain volume of compressed air to develop their full power.
This may differ depending on the device or application. both over- and under-sizing the hoses is not a good idea .

IS THE COUPLING USED IS OK?

The safety compressed air coupling plays an important role in creating sufficient passage.
Only use javac certified Euro safety couplings, with the highest throughput.
If your air tool is not hitting its torque, the cause could be a faulty or leaking clutch.
In this case replace immediately

CAN THE COMPRESSOR KEEP THE CONSUMED FLOW RATE?

A compressor begs for correct sizing of the compressed air consumption.
Both in terms of productivity and energy consumption.
In most cases this is done correctly during installation, but a workshop evolves over time, while the compressor is overlooked.
Check whether your compressor can still handle the flow for the work that needs to be done after a few years.

IS THE PIPE DIAMETER PRESENT CORRECT?

As with the hoses, the pipes must also be designed in function of the compressor and the number of running meters.
